Mad Queen makes progressive conceptually-based tracks. Each of our albums tells a piece of a larger story in a mythos that will knock your socks off (one day)!
We begin our tale with the story of Chess, a super-powered, punk-eyed, bank-robbing brat, as she attempts to find her role and identity in a dying society. As the wannabe queenpin’s world circles a black hole waiting for demise, twelve tricky factions carefully exploit the citizens of Havelia in their final feral hours with no force powerful enough to disrupt the stagnant, cancerous order.
Will Chess become an independent hero that saves the crying masses?
Will she be a puppet in a grand scheme of conscious manipulation?
Or will she embrace the comfy villainous persona that has gotten her this far?
All we know for certain is that she will lead us to Domino.
the story unfolds
Prologue - a road of infinite choices
As the sun rose on an inauspicious day, no one could know the cataclysm of events to be put in place by a single birth. A soul to be fractured in a web of faces, she could’ve been anybody, crafted any timeline; however, this child’s story was not to be her own. Such are the ties of blood, power, and obligation. Born to this world’s favorite bastard and crafted for a purpose, she would come to know no lines, but instead the colors that escape them. Shades of greed, pride, and blood splattered upon an ambitious canvas and tempered in the fires of divine masochism, no one really stood a chance. A true weapon, her eyes honed to absolute precision with no agenda of her own to cloud them, the bodies drifted downwards like harvest leaves. The remorse and recourse admitted to others, stolen and hidden from what could have been our hero; now instead, our children’s nightmare. Wealth could only hold the attention of the devil and his daughter until the scope of lasting legacy seduced his tongue. The King and The Cat would split seas and crack foundations in the pursuit of disruption and remembrance. A man who could’ve held a noble vision took his name and children to the doorstep of oblivion and fell. In another story, the climax captures his demise, but in our tale of the cat with crow feathers, the death of a father is but a needed catalyst. What we believed to be the end was the forming of the storm. A child of unrelenting skill, vicious perception, and unshakable accuracy now loomed over our cities as a new darkness fell upon her eyes. With no identity to call her own, she took away the world’s. In the moment before the first lightning strike, a named whispered cut the skies with thunder, and it was then that we knew the name of the witch and the game she plays: Chess.
